How to use what you find

• The frequency (all seven live between 162.400 and 162.550 MHz) is what you tune on any weather-band radio. Most weather radios scan all seven automatically.
• The SAME code is a six-digit county code. Program it into a SAME-capable radio (nearly every modern one) and it alerts only for warnings that touch your county, instead of waking you for a storm eighty miles away.
• More than one transmitter covers many counties. Pick the strongest at your home; keep the second as a backup - transmitters do go down in the very storms you bought the radio for.
